People of Oteri-Ughelli community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State have send a ‘Save Our Soul’ to the Commissioner for health over sewage pit dug on a street road in the area.
A 6ft deep sewage pit commonly known as ‘Suck Away’ has been dug at Isodje street by a popular business mogul cum politician.
Investigation by our reporter reveals that surrounding neighbors have been grumbling over the suck away pit on a street road and the emmision is dangerous to health.
According to sources in the area, “The Suck Away Pit was dug the CEO of a popular eatries along the Ughelli Patani express way on the East/West road.
“It would have been a privilege staying close to him, but reverse is the case because of the hazards associated with him.
“Health Officials in the local government area turning deaf ears because something must have exchanged hands or we see no reason why a suck away pit should be on a street road.
“A road that would be tarred someday is been destroyed by those who are in government and health officers are keeping mute pretending not to see what is happening.

All efforts to contact the HoD Environment of Ughelli North whose name could not be ascertained as at the time of this report was not successful but Oteri community chairman, Vincent Diamond who spoke to our correspondent condemn the act.
He said, “I was not around when the pit was dug and it was not pleasing when I saw it. I went to his house to look for him for a number of times but I was told he is out town”. Diamond said.
“Since Health Officials, Town Planning and Environmental Officers are not working, we are appealing to the Commissioner for Health, Environment to urgently come to our aide because we are living in danger”. Some of his neighbors complained.
